An IT and Banking professional with over three decades of experience in the diverse areas of Project Management, Banking Software Products Life Cycle Management, Key Account Management, IT Systems Management and Technology Resource Administration with experience of establishing vendor networks and forging strategic alliances & partnerships in the African, South Asian and Middle East markets.
He currently pursues a Doctoral Programme in Management at Amrita University, Coimbatore and also teaches part-time at Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore and Institute of Technology and Management (ITM) Business School, Navi Mumbai.
Till February, 2011 he was with Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd where he headed Banking Product Consulting Business Practice and Customer Fulfilment for Africa, South Asia and Middle East as Vice President. During his six years’ stint as VP at OFSS he had been instrumental in expanding the Oracle FLEXCUBE product footprint in these regions by developing strong and sustainable client relationships.
He also held senior managerial and consultancy positions at I-flex solutions ltd (2000-2004) and CITIL (1996-2000). Some of his key responsibilities included the program management of multiple FLEXCUBE implementation projects in North Africa which led to the company’s market leadership in that region. He also program managed the incubation of i-flex’s Insurance Software Services Vertical (2001-2002) and earlier to that the first SaaS (Software as a Service/Application Services Provider) Business in India (2000-2001) as a joint venture initiative of i-flex and HDFC group.
During his stint at CITIL he was seconded to Zambia National Commercial Bank, Lusaka, Zambia during 1996-2000 as Director-IT to manage the strategic transformation of the state owned principal bank in that country. This assignment gave him a unique experience of successful business process re-structuring & transformation consulting over a period of three years, with the distinction of launching and driving new IT initiatives, re-designing corporate infrastructures and contributing towards the achievement of not just the organizational objectives but also in revamping the country’s Banking landscape as the member of the parliamentary sub-committee for Banking in that country.
His stint at Federal Bank started as an Executive Trainee in 1978 and later as Banking Services Executive at its various offices in India till 1984 when he was recruited and trained by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as one of the four key personnel to set up the Computer Division in the Bank. He and his three core team mates worked with TCS consultants during the next three years and created various Centralised Information Systems in the Bank (1985-88). Besides, he was instrumental in organizing a well orchestrated training programme to bring the Bank’s workforce into the Computer era and empowering them to appreciate and use automated banking systems. He essayed a key role in the introduction of new technology driven systems by associating with various user departments and business groups and also in the program management of the start up network of totally automated branches.
