Rejithamol R. received her M. Sc. degree in Organic Chemistry from M. G. University campus, Kottayam in 2009. She then worked as a Project Assistant at the Regional Research Laboratory (now NIIST), Trivandrum in the area of organic synthesis for two years and joined the Department of Chemistry at Amrita School of Arts & Sciences, Amritapuri Campus in 2013.

She is currently doing Ph.D in the area of electrochemical sensors. Her research interests include Fabrication of electrochemical sensors for biomolecules like aminoacids, steroids and Heterocyclic synthesis using novel multicomponent reactions.


  • Fabrication of Non-Enzymatic Biosensors:  Currently our group was engaged in the fabrication of cholesterol biosensors by the conventional way of modifying the electrodes and to develop both enzymatic and non-enzymatic cholesterol biosensors. This fabricated cholesterol biosensor provides a new platform for routine analysis of cholesterol in human blood serum samples.
  • DBU CATALYZED Α- AMINATION OF 1,3-DICARBONYL COMPOUNDS: Carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions are central to organic synthesis. The electrophilic α- amination of carbonyl compounds is widely used for the prepration of natural or unnatural α- aminoacids and α- aminoalcohols. Aminating agents such as azidodicarboxylates, nitroso compounds or oxaziridines are typically used as electrophilic nitrogen source. The addition of β-keto esters to azodicarboxylates is one of the preferred method for electrophilic amination. We would like to do α-amination of some 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds using BBU as a base and the annulations of the aminated product using simple Lewis acids as catalyst.
