Sabarish Narayanan B.
Sabarish Narayanan B. joined the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbaotore, as Lecturer in 2002, and is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the same Department since 2009.
He received his undergraduate degree in Engineering (B.E) in Electronics and Communication from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, in 2002, and post graduation (M.Tech) in Radio Frequency and Microwave Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 2007. Currently, along with his academic teaching, he is pursuing Doctoral studies in the area of developing Low Cost Electromagnetic Absorbers.
The main areas of his teaching domain and research pertain to Electromagnetic Theory and applications, Sustainable Engineering and Agriculture Electronics.
He has to his credit research papers in international journals like “Electromagnetics, Applied Mechanics and Materials and International Journal of Nanoscience, ten papers in reputed international conferences like International Conference on Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (INCEMIC) and International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology (ICANN), and eight papers in various National Conferences in the aforementioned subject areas. Nine of his publications are indexed in Scopus.
He has to his credit two completed industrial projects, in collaboration with Honeywell Technology Solutions Madurai (2009) and Shree Chithra Tirunal Institute for Medical Science and Technology (SCTIMST) –Trivandrum (2010) respectively. Sabarish was a resource person for the IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics in March 2013, and for the Faculty Development Programme on Transmission Lines and Waveguides, organized by Anna University in 2011, and IETE FDPs on Electromagnetic Fields.
He was actively involved in the European Research and Educational Collaboration with Asia (EURECA) program, guiding under graduate and post graduate projects from 2008-2010. He was a reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility in the year 2013.
He was instrumental in obtaining funding to the tune of Rs.5 Lakhs from ISRO, DRDO, WIPRO and CTS for conducting the National Conference series Recent Trends in Communication, Computation and Signal Processing (RTCSP) during the year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.
Sabarish Narayanan B is an associate member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), life member of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India and Life Member of Society of EMC Engineers (India).

The Radio Frequency and Microwave laboratory was established in the year 1996. The lab is equipped with full-fledged X band wave guide bench with Klystron and Gunn based microwave sources and Scalar power meter. Together with the waveguide peripherals including directional couplers, magic tees, circulators, tuners provide an excellent set up for the students to get a real time feel of wave propagation concepts and its applications. A complete VHF antenna measurement system was commissioned in the year 2004 with a variety of antennas including dipoles, monopoles, yagi uda and loop structures. The lab has five personal computer systems to provide exposure to the students in the area of electromagnetic simulation employing software.Apart from catering to the regular academic laboratory requirements, students are exposed to innovative experiments involving radar cross section and microwave material characterization. Over the last three years, the lab has undertaken rigorous research and development activities in the area of electromagnetic characterization of fly ash and development of antennas on cylindrical substrates. This has resulted in a good number of publications in reputed international journals including Electromagnetics (Taylor and Francis), Applied Mechanics and Materials, and international conferences like INCEMIC. Over the next three years, it is proposed to have a fully developed microwave instrumentation for exploring the possibility of undertaking external funded projects and consultancy activities in the area of electromagnetic material characterization and developing EM based Non destructive Testing techniques for Agricultural and Food products. Presently an Anechoic Chamber for frequency range above 1 GHz is under construction.
