Bio

Dr. T. G. Satheesh Babu currently serves as Chairperson & Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus. He leads the Biosensor Research group and Amrita Biomedical Engineering centre at the Coimbatore Campus and Heads the Amrita Biomedical Engineering (AMBE) centre. He also serves as the Research Head for the School of Physical Sciences at the Coimbatore campus.

He obtained his Master’s in Chemistry from Gandhigram Rural University, Tamil Nadu. He completed his Ph. D from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. He was awarded the Prestigious Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award (IYBA) 2013, Instituted by the DBT, Government of India. His research interest includes non-enzymatic biosensors, immunosensors, Lab-on-a-Chip devices, paper-based analytical devices, and POCT devices. He has implemented 11 research projects worth about 650 lakhs from various funding agencies. He has published more than 75 papers and 3 awarded US patents to his credit. Seven students have completed their Ph.D. under his Guidance, and currently, 8 students are being guided.
