Ugesh K.P. currently works as a Junior Research fellow for the Gates foundation –DBT funded project at the Phage Biology Lab. He is a graduate in Microbiology from PSG college of Arts and science, Coimbatore and Postgraduate in the same from Amrita school of Biotechnology, Amritapuri. He developed a special interest in phage biology after doing his project work in Phagebiotics from National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai. He was awarded the Amrita innovations bright idea award from Amrita TBI, Amritapuri campus for the year 2011.
The project entitled Characterization of phage lysins for sputum Decontamination was carried out under the Guidance of Dr. Vanaja Kumar, Scientist and Head of Bacteriology, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT), Chennai.
