Dr. C. UshaKumari currently serves us Professor and Head in the Department of Samhita, Sanskrit and Siddhanta at Amrita School of Ayurveda. She has completed her BAM in the year 1982 and MD (Ayurveda) in Kayachikitsa in the year 1991 from Government Ayurveda College Thiruvananthapuram. In the year 2003, she has passed the Account test for executive officers (Kerala Public Service Commission) and in the year 2008, she has been awarded Pg certificate in medical and psychiatric social work. She has organised numerous medical camps and the project Vayojanaparipalana for old age patients intiated by her deserves special attention.She has guided Pg theisis in the Department of Basic Principles.
She has a vast teaching experience in which she has started her career as Tutor in Pharmacy and Department of Kayachikitsa at Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram in the year 1988 till 1993. She has worked as lecturer in the Department of PrasutiTantra, Government Ayurveda College,Thiruvananthapuram from 1993 to 1998. From 1998 till 2001 , she has rendered her service as Reader in the Department of Basic Principles of Ayurveda, Government Ayurveda college,Kannur. From the year 2001 to 2011, she has rendered her service as Professor in the Department of Basic principles of Ayurveda at Government Ayurveda College Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram respectively. She has worked as Principal, Government Ayurveda college kannur and Thiruvananthapuram from 2011 to 2017.She served the prestigious position of Director, Ayurveda medical education(DAME) at Directorate of Ayurveda medical education,ArogyaBhavan,Thiruvananthapuram from 2017 to 2019.
