3D Modeller for Games

AMMACHI Labs, a research center at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is collaborating with the major government ministry to develop India’s first virtual labs for vocational skills for school children. The project would involve the design and development of immersive and interactive 3D games and simulations to teach vocational skills in an engaging way and would be deployed on government portals and accessible through mobiles. Some exercises will also be available in Virtual Reality. This flagship project will impact 100’s of thousands of children, helping them to learn and practice skills for priority sectors free of cost.

We are looking for motivated and experienced professionals from fields such as software project management. instructional design, game design, graphics and UI design, UX design, Unity3D programming, video editing and 3 modelling to join our team. Positions are open for contract/ full time and work location is flexible.

Research positions are also available in these areas.

Details of Job We are looking for 3D Modellers who can build 3D Characters, models and environments for multiple game projects. You will:

  • Take responsibility for the art on multiple game projects

  • Create 3D art assets and integrate them in Unity

  • Design/Develop game elements and assets, screens, screen backgrounds, characters, icons, etc.

  • Participatein art reviews and being receptive to feedback and art direction

  • Troubleshoot any art issues from a creative and technical standpoint.
Minimum Requirements

  • Solid understanding of art and design fundamentals

  • Proficient in organic 3D modelling, environments and props

  • Ability to rapidly prototype ideas

  • Strong skills with 3D software such as Blender and Photoshop

  • Familiar with all phases of game art pipeline

  • Specialised in Game Character and object Modelling both high and low poly objects.

  • Experience in creating texture maps for characters and environments

  • Good Knowledge of UV Unwrapping

  • Strong foundation of art skills with a good sense of colour and proportions

  • Strong aesthetic for typography, drawings and illustrations

  • Ability to design and create visual elements such as characters, environments, textures and UI preferred

  • Strong English communication skills (both written and spoken) and must be a clear, organised thinker and communicator

  • Highly disciplined, self-managed and self-motivated with a very strong do whatever it takes work ethic suited to a startup environment

  • Good portfolio of relevant mobile application and/or game work (please include link to online portfolio)
Experience 3+ years in developing 3D artwork for games.
