The professors of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s research centers, AMMACHI Labs and AmritaCREATE, published book chapters in “Children and Sustainable Development -  Ecological  Education in a Globalized World”.

The chapters include "Addressing the First Teachers: Education and Sustainable Development for Children, Families and Communities Through Vocational Education, Technology and Life Skills Training for Women" (Pages: 319-334), authored by Rao R. Bhavani, Srividya Sheshadri and Laura Aswati Maciuika of AMMACHI Labs, and “Amrita RITE: A Holistic Model for Inclusive Education in Rural India" (Pages: 171-184), authored by Dr. Prema Nedungadi, Radhika Menon, Karunya Mulki of AmritaCREATE, and Dr. Raghu Raman of Amrita School of Business (ASB), Coimbatore.

The book presents an integrated scientific, pedagogical, social, and spiritual vision of ecological education for children and is compiled from the proceedings from a workshop at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences at the Vatican called “Children and Sustainable Development: A Challenge for Education,” where the colleagues from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had participated.

The book, which is a Springer publication, is about the changes in educational practices, which were necessitated by the global challenges of climate change and sustainable development and in a context characterized by increasing poverty and inequality, migration and refugees. The book is written by a range of international scholars, scientists and grassroots practitioners from Africa, Latin America, Asia (India, China, Malaysia) and Europe, the individual contributions focus on education policies and child development in various social contexts.
