On the occasion of the birthday of the Late President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Young Indians network of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore (ASB) hosted a charity event “Daan Utsav” at Ettimadai village on October 15, 2016.

As a part of the event, the student organizers of YiNet in the campus collected articles from students in the form of clothes, food, stationery, to name a few, and distributed them to the people in the village. Besides, they also conducted drawing and poetry writing competitions for the children in the village. The winners were congratulated with prizes. Moreover, the students offered food and clothing to the aged community residing in the village.

“We enjoyed the spirit of giving back. The children in the village participated with great enthusiasm. The joy on their faces cannot be explained in words. We look forward to more such interactions. Each year, we want to make it bigger and better,” said Bhupesh from Class of 2018.

Prof. Shobhana Madhavan, Associate Professor, ASB, who leads the outreach program for the village, headed the charity event.
