Dr. Shantanu Bhowmik received the prestigious Brain Pool Korea Research Award from Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, Government of Korea in July 2013 for his exemplary work. The award is given to outstanding academicians and invites them to work as an expert at Korean Universities as Adjunct Professor. “I have worked as Adjunct Professor at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), which is one of the top most among 60 institutes.” Dr. Shantanu noted.
Describing about the research nature of Amrita Dr. Shantanu expressed, “Amrita’s research and projects are envisioned as a platform to encourage and enhance research among the faculty. Our faculty pool represents our biggest asset - knowledge. Each of them has served in professional capacities at national and international levels. These help to upgrade the intellect and take us to perceive divine.”
In February 2014, Dr. Shantanu has been awarded for the prestigious Marie Curie Research Award from European Union 7th Framework Program from European Commission. The Marie Curie Research Grant is the most competitive research grant among European research grants available to researchers regardless of their nationality or field of research.
Dr. Shantanu has been honored with number of international research awards such as DST-DAAD PPP-2000 Research Award (during his doctoral research and part of the doctoral research was carried out at Technical University of Berlin, Germany), Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Visiting Fellow Research Award of Government of Canada as one of the most promising and emerging scientists and the work was carried out at Royal Military College of Canada (under National Defence of Canada) and the Research Award of Prestigious National Academies (National Research Council of USA) for NASA’s Vision of Space Exploration to work at NASA-Marshal Space Flight Center.
He also serves as Professor at Department of Aerospace Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore.
