During November 12th and 13th, 2016, over 2000 volunteers participated in a massive clean-up drive at Sabarimala in Kerala. Amrita volunteers have been  part of the cleanup drive for seven consecutive years. The Sanctum Sanctorum at Sannidhanam took on a fresh and new appearance by the end of the two day long Amala Bharatam Campaign (ABC). Myriad students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, AYUDH India and a multitude of Amma's devotees, from far and wide, flocked to the sacred hill of Sabarimala as part of this drive.

On the first day, they picked up waste and cleaned the Sannidhanam and related places. Different groups concentrated on various areas of the holy hill as they sorted and segregated the waste by type. The second day saw a mass of determined people, regardless of gender and age, taking on waste management of the Holy River Pamba and its shore. The Southern Ganga had clear water by the time they finished.

Members of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, and the Travancore Devaswom Board, piloted the campaign. The refreshment team made sure of the well being of over one thousand volunteers. Let this day serve as a reminder of our duty to keep this Abode of Divinity clean and beautiful.
