SAEINDIA Training Program at Amrita

Recently Anna Hazare cast his spell of leadership on the nation.
In his fight against government corruption Hazare inspired the common man, famous personalities and lakhs of young minds across India to stand up for social and political reform.
His sacrifice and strong conviction to serve humanity captured widespread attention and support.
Hazare’s leadership qualities stand as an example for the nation’s next generation of leaders.
Committed to passing on the legacy of India’s great leaders, the Society for Automotive Engineers SAEINDIA, conducted its annual Club Officers Leadership Training program during September 6-7 at the Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore campus.
Participants included students from colleges across South India who attended training provided by SAEINDIA, a leading global organization promoting mobility engineering of self-propelled vehicles.
Speaking on the occasion were several prominent leaders from industry.
Asit Barma, Head-Global Marketing and Strategy, Defiance Technology outlined India’s potential to become a major player in the global market in a lecture titled Innovations and Opportunities in the Automotive Industry.
Dr. Bharadvaj, Director-R&D, Boeing India spoke next, elaborating upon opportunities in the aerospace industry.
“Designing aerospace engines is far more complicated than designing automobile engines,” stated the third speaker, Vithal Acharya who represented Global Research- General Electric. He encouraged students to bring forth innovations in these fields.
The second day of the training program included an interactive soft skills session with video shows.
“Ice breaking sessions gave us a chance to interact with other student communities,” shared Kaushika G.P., Amrita student of B.Tech. (Mechanical Engineering).
“The activities brought out the best in every student even as they were let in on the secret to true leadership – a desire to serve society,” stated Dr. Thirumalini S., Faculty Advisor, SAEINDIA Amrita Chapter.
In the afternoon, various college representatives from the student executive council met to discuss SAEINDIA programs and activities.
The two-day training enhanced student leadership skills, shed light on future career paths and united students from various colleges.
Abhinav Gupta from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru, plans to do an MS in Management after completing his engineering studies. He said, “The program helped to build my confidence to pursue my area of interest after graduation.”
Added P. Thamizhvanan from St. Peter’s College of Engineering and Technology, Avadi, “The event provided an opportunity for mechanical engineering students to better understand opportunities available in the aerospace and automobile industries. We were able to interact with many industry experts.”
