Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham – University established under section 3 of UGC Act of 1956 offers more than 150 professional programmes through 15 schools across 5 different campuses in 3 South Indian states. The world renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), known worldwide for Her humanitarian activities and initiatives, is the Chancellor. Amma, a great inspiration for the faculty, staff and student community founded the university with a vision to impart high quality education enriched with human values to the younger generation for the benefit of society.
Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Coimbatore was established on October 27, 1994. It has the distinction of being Amrita's first center for higher learning. Known then as the Amrita Institute of Technology and Science, it offered B.E. programs to cater to the increasing needs of technical manpower in the country. Today the School offers B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes in various disciplines. In addition, it offers programs leading to the MCA degree. Ph.D. is offered in Engineering and Sciences.
ASE has an excellent faculty student ratio which is well above the national norms. Faculty members of ASE Coimbatore have published books on various topics in Engineering. They have published research article in highly reputed national and international journals. The school of Engineering have organized various national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, colloquia, contests, training programs, etc. during the last five years.
All the laboratories are well equipped with latest equipments and software tools required for B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D programs.
