Rare Surgery on hand transplant was successfully undertaken in AIMS, Kochi, this is the first of its kind in the country. The 16 hours long surgery was conducted on Manu, who had lost both his hands in a train accident. "Manu will be able to move his hands slowly and presently, his own muscles of the forearm are working to move the fingers. The sensations will return gradually and probably, in 3 – 4 months he will move his hands," said Dr. Subramania Iyer, Professor and Head of the Plastic Surgery Department, AIMS, Kochi.
