Speaking about the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Dr. Sanjeev K. Singh, Medical Superintendent, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, said, “We are in the middle of a big disaster, and need huge improvements. People are not collecting data. Frankly, some of the organisms that are popping up today have never been seen before. We cannot be practising experience or opinion-based medicine and need more evidence-based medicine". The survival or morbidity of a patient who comes in with a resistant bug depends on the condition, certainly, but with virulent AMR, the chances of survival are abysmally poor.
