Of the 720 patients diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM), a relatively common genetic heart disease responsible for mortality and morbidity at all ages, an estimated 70% don’t have sufficient personal resources for life-saving therapy or operation that would improve longevity, shows the analysis of data from past three years compiled by the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy centre, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.
