Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) awarded grant for 'Optimising antibiotic use along surgical pathways: addressing antimicrobial resistance and improving clinical outcomes’ was led by Professor Alison Holmes and includes Dr. Raheelah Ahmad, Enrique Castro-Sanchez, Gabriel Birgand and Miss Esmita Charani of NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The study will collaborate with partners internationally, including Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kerala, India. The award is a £2m grant over 4 years, which started in May 2017.
