Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham to set up a 2,250-bed multi-super-speciality hospital of...
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham showcased many of its research projects to a team of visiting journalists. Dr. Shantanu Bhowmik, Head: Research and Projects, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore and Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, has readied a fully indigenous technology on high performance composite material that can be used for bulletproof jackets and helmets, as well as other wide range applications in defence and aviation sector.
The second of the innovations the University showcased was ‘non-enzymatic glucose sensor and glucometer’ by Dr. T. G. Satheesh Babu, Associate Professor, Sciences, School of Engineering, Coimbatore. Made of nano-materials, the device would be an alternative to the commercially available glucose test strips that were prohibitively costly and had reduced shelf life.
The University also showcased the progress in developing a low temperature combustion technology to reduce particulate and NOx emissions in diesel engines, high-accuracy speaker recognition system for national security.
