Overview

The M. Tech. Nanobiotechnology is focused on biomedical nanotechnologies. It is a course designed for students to explore in depth the application of nanotechnology to the biomedical area. Such applications include new implant technologies, regenerative engineering, new nanomedicines to combat cancer and drug resistance, targeted medicines for treatment with reduced side effects, diagnostic technologies using nanomaterials etc. To gain strength in this new area the course covers in-depth nanomaterials and their properties, nanosystems design, the physics and chemistry of nanomaterials and applications of nanotechnology to the biomedical area, including engineering of scaffolds and the engineering of devices at the nanoscale for diagnostics and treatment.

The program also offers clinical exposure in one of the many operation theatres of the hospital to help students develop an understanding of the medical applications of nanotechnology. In short, this is a pioneering program that aims to develop an all-round scientist and technologist with interdisciplinary specialization in three areas– nanotechnology, biotechnology and medical sciences.

The course have been successful for the last five years with 100% placement and hands-on research experience in cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art facilities, which are one of the best in the country. The Center is a Thematic Unit of Excellence under the Nanomission program of the Government of India.

Successful candidates will have an opportunity to pursue their Ph. D. dissertation at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.

BE/BTech Graduates in – Nanotechnology/ Bioengineering/ Biotechnology/ Genetic Engineering/ Biomedical Engineering/ Chemical Engineering/ Food Process Engineering/ Bioinformatics/ Agricultural Engineering/ Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering/ Pharmaceutical Engineering/ Food Technology and any other Bio engineering related courses with at least 60% marks (or equivalent)

MSc Graduates in – Molecular Biology/ Medical Biotechnology/ Medical Microbiology/ Microbiology/ Biomedical Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Material Science/ Environmental Science/ Medical Physics/ Medical Genetics/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Food Science and Nutrition/ Allied Health Sciences and any other Bioscience related courses with at least 60% marks (or equivalent)

Professional Graduates in – Medicine/ Dentistry/ Veterinary/ Ayurveda/ Homeopathy/ Pharmacy courses with at least 60% marks (or equivalent)
