M.Sc. Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing is a Two-Year Postgraduate academic program offered in different specialties.
Aim: To prepare postgraduates to assume responsibilities as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators and researchers in a wide variety of professional settings.
The program is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, Kerala Nurses’ and Midwives’ Council and approved by Govt. of Kerala.
The College offers M. Sc. Nursing in four broad specialties with an annual intake of 36 students:
- Medical-Surgical Nursing,
- Obstetric and Gynaecological Nursing,
- Child Health Nursing
- Mental Health Nursing.
Medical-Surgical Nursing is offered in four sub-specialties:
- Cardiovascular & Thoracic Nursing,
- Oncology Nursing,
- Neurosciences Nursing
- Nephro-Urology Nursing.
Clinical experiences in all the specialties are provided in the parent hospital, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Affiliation is taken from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore for clinical experience in Mental Health Nursing.
The clinical exposure in the respective specialty, classes taken by the clinicians and the nursing faculty, participation in various conferences, organizing workshops on their own and the dissertation itself make each student’s pathway to achieve the aims of the course.
