<p>There has been a steep rise in crime on children. As a result, safety becomes the first priority of government. In this paper, a security system for school children is implemented by tracking children and school bus, which enables parents to track their children at runtime. They will be notified when the child is going out of the school and also when child is returning home to avoid any misplacement of the child. Security system for school children is implemented by using Global Positioning System (GPS). Mobile app is developed for parents and staff members to get location of children and school bus using GPS. The mobile application also contains contact details of bus in charge and principal so that they can be contacted by parents in case of emergency. Also, by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, parents can find out the child’s entry and exit status in the bus. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.</p>
