The main aim of this paper is to find the nonconformities occurring in ballast manufacturing. Ballast is a device used for controlling the current during starting and normal operation as well as providing proper starting voltage for the discharge lamps. Ballast manufacturing includes many processes such as coil winding, wire crimping, lamination welding, impregnation etc. The rework rate has increased in the manufacturing of ballast and this leads to initiate this project. It is observed that rework ratio has affected the productivity. This will affect the output and efficiency of the process. With the help of quality tools, we can analyze and solve the defects in the manufacturing process. This work also aims at finding the preventive action to reduce the defects.
