Abstract:

In this paper, we present design of wideband 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) down conversion mixer with improvement in noise figure (NF) and linearity (IIP3). The proposed mixer uses an active load in the bias network which offers high linearity and acceptable conversion gain (CG). In addition, we used transimpedance amplifier (TIA) as intermediate frequency (IF) buffer in the design to further improve the linearity. The proposed circuit is designed and simulated in UMC 65nm technology. Simulation results shows a 13.7 ±0.5 dB conversion gain, 5.9±0.4 dB noise figure and 11.78±1.75 dBm IIP3 over the wide mmWave band from 32 GHz to 65 GHz.
