Abstract:

The need for energy is increasing day by day. Many forms of energy is available for day-to-day usage. The energy requirement is increasing many folds and the need to alternate, clean and affordable energy is on the rise. Fossils fuels are fast depleting as a consequence the prices are also soaring. On one hand the resources are depleting and on the other hand it is becoming costlier affair. Energy and Environment are closely related. Improper management and production of energy is leading to global warming and a dire consequence of it being the climate changes that has prompted many researches to find out a feasible and optimal solution for the growing energy and environmental crises. The present work is an attempt to address the energy crisis and efficient disposal of agricultural wastes. Briquettes are made using different biodegradable materials and different tests such as calorific value, ash content test and carbon content test to test the efficiency of the briquette. Different types of binders have been used to make the binder and their performance is reported. It can be concluded that briquette prepared using the right combination of raw materials and binder can to certain extent address the energy and environmental crisis. © IAEME Publication.
