The replacement of conventional energy sources, such as fossil fuels, by renewable energy sources is today's necessity due to the environmental issues and the depletion of fossil fuels. Renewable energy sources have to be encouraged more in power generation, which is the major consumer of fossil fuel. But a trade-off between the consumption and generation has to be considered for a sustainable, efficient and greener power system. This paper proposes the load side management of a stand alone residential building. Automation has included in the system to make the overall system an economical and efficient one. A load scheduling scheme has proposed based on the load profiles of the system. The overall load side management algorithm has been validated using simulation and hardware prototype model. MATLAB and C programming has been used for simulation and Atmega 2560 for hardware implementation
