Abstract:

Microgrid is a scaled down edition of power grid which aids in the management of energy in mini utilities is an efficient and powerful solution. The management of energy in a microgrid is very essential for maintaining the load supply reliability. This paper presents the hardware prototype of a smart microgrid system with PV generation unit, battery and load for enhanced storage management. The main objective of the paper is to introduce pseudo-state-of-charge concept in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of microgrid for enhanced performance of the system. The proposed test system has been designed and simulated using MATLAB Simulink. The prototype model of the system was implemented and validated the performance.
