Investigating the organized activity of neuron ensembles is critical to understand how brain circuits work and is one main target of the project. Reconstruction of network activity has proved to be a hard task. This project will study cellular function using multi-scale models of single cells and networks will be developed with NEURON. Network activity for studying circuit properties will be elaborated in this study. The most significant outcome in terms of mathematical modelling is the reconstruction of salient network properties starting from their constitutive elements and predictions on the role of single neurons in the network. In the field of cognition, computational reconstruction of a large-scale model for modelling timing in the brain with aspects of information flow and spatial inhibition will help understand function of the cerebellar circuits.
