The funded amount received from AICTE under MODROB scheme has been utilized to modernize the Metallurgy Laboratory with the following equipments:
Tinius Olsen Computerized Universal Testing Machine This equipement is used for mechanical testing of metals and alloys. A computer system having both hardware and software aids in acquiring the data such as stress, strain and elongation and displays in the graphical form. Data acquired using this system is highly reliable.
Image Analyzer for metallurgical microstructure analysis. This system is capable of capturing micro as well as macro images of metallurgical specimens, analyzing and quantifying the information contained in the image such as grain size, graphite nodule size and count, phase distribution, particle size. The added facility is currently utilized in studying the micro and macro structures, and in testing for mechanical properties of high-strength bronze alloys being developed at the Institute Similarly, weldments are studied for micro and macrostructures and tested for mechanical properties using these facilities.
