• Sustainability and Green chemistry is an elective course for B. Tech student of chemical engineering designed to introduce the concepts Sustainable Development and Green Chemistry.  Students can opt for this course during their sixth semester. The course objective is to introduce the concept of sustainability, green chemistry and their interdependence and their application for chemical engineering processes and design.The course can be broadly divided into two major parts - sustainability, green chemistry.

  • As wireless sensor networks (WSN) are emerging worldwide, the lack of e-learning facilities degrades the availability and usage of WSN applications, mainly in universities. The Remote Triggered Wireless Sensor Network Lab aims in providing an easy, efficient, interactive and user friendly environment to the students, researchers etc., which can trigger their inquisitiveness and give them the equipments and materials needed for the lab experiments which are shared to them in a virtual manner wherein they can conduct the experiments online and observe the outputs as in a real lab through an effective visualisation tool.

  • In order to facilitate remote experimentation for multiple users, the project demonstrates the possibility of real-time shared access for multiplexing the usage of control and acquisition hardware. The project also investigates and develops the architecture for scaling up the experiments by effective timesharing of available resources to be made available to large scale of users.

  • Amrita Virtual Biotechnology laboratory is a new kind of experimental science that is being established as a virtual simulation based laboratory. These labs focus on helping students retain the real feel of a laboratory, while conducting the experiment from an internet-enabled computer terminal, much in the same way as is done, in a real lab.

  • Amrita University is creating comprehensive Mechanical Engineering Virtual Labs in the following areas: Mechanics of Solids, Wind Energy, Solar Thermal Energy, and Energy Storage. Each lab consists of 8 to 10 experiments. All experiments have a common web platform where students can view experiments via a web interface happening in real-time with a web-cam.
