Amrita School of Biotechnology welcomed its new batch of students in a unique induction program titled “SWAGATHAM 2016" on July 27, 2016. The new students were greeted with a traditional welcome from their seniors, after which they each lit a deepam, signifying the light of knowledge, to be placed at the feet of Saraswati Devi, the Goddess of Learning.
On February 11th-12th 2016, the classrooms and labs of Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) were deserted– an unusual sighting on most working days. The students, staff, and faculty members were not to be seen in the biotechnology building, but were instead found at the Amritapuri campus sports ground for the annual ASBT Athletic Meet.
United Nations Academic Impact and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham hosted Skills and Technology Accelerating Rapid Transformation [START] Conference on Technology for Sustainable Development on July 8, 2015 at the United Nations Head Quarters in New York.
Amrita School of Biotechnology hosted Biocrest 2015, an international mini-symposium, commemorating the school’s 10th anniversary. The day commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Bipin Nair, Dean, School of Biotechnology. The benedictory speech was delivered by Swami Amritaswaroopananda Puri, President, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the inaugural address was given by the honorary guest of honor, G. C.
Inaugural Ceremony of Amrita Center for Integrated Medicine and Research will be held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi Campus on January 10, 2015. It is the first center in India for an evidence based clinical and research integration of Allopathic and Traditional Medicine.
The 11th convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was held on August 30, 2014 at the Headquarters at Coimbatore. 4833 graduating students from all five campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapetham,, viz. Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Kochi and Mysore were conferred degrees.
BIOQUEST 2013 provided an ideal forum to discuss exciting and emerging multidisciplinary themes related to the use of biotechnology in addressing pertinent societal needs. The conference focused on the ways in which research areas such as translational medicine, nanotechnology, neuroscience, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics and bioengineering contribute to alleviating human suffering and improving the quality of life.
