• Through Amrita's women empowerment initiatives, rural women are trained to build their own toilets, thereby addressing the urgent need for sanitation infrastructure in rural communities. However, women do face some challenges while constructing toilets such as the acquisition of construction materials (which can be expensive) and the overall time required to build the toilets.

  • Medical images are acquired using different modalities depending on the type of body part to be imaged. This results in various types of images like MRI, CT, PET, SPECT and X-Ray Images, each representing different features/aspects of the area being scanned. Study of these different types of images may be needed for clinical analysis by doctors.

  • The project titled "Experimental and numerical investigations of roof slab for future fast breeder reactors", is funded by IGCAR. The investigator of the project is Dr. M. Ramu.

  • Drug repurposing refers to finding alternate indications to approved drugs, leads in regular development cycles, or even compounds previously discontinued from development. This collaborative project between Amrita University (Bengaluru Campus) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) aims to develop web‐based UI landscapes to provide a data‐centric deep mining technique that lets researchers formulate sophisticated drug repositioning hypotheses.

  • Oil soluble alkyl substituted hydroxy aromatic compounds functionalized with amine or substituted amines are commonly used as additives in lube oil and fuel oil, since these compounds have potential activity as oxidation inhibitor (antioxidant), emulsifier and crank case detergent. Mannich base derivatives of polyisobutenylsucinicanhydride are the most common. Cardanol which is obtained by the distillation (decarboxylation) of cashew nut shell liquid is chemically an alkyl substituted phenol. It is used in all industries from polymer to medicine. The greatest advantage with cardanol is its availability from renewable source, biodegradability and eco-friendly nature. The objective of the project was to synthesize long chain compounds involving amines and cardanols by utilizing eco-friendly compound from renewable source as the starting material.

  • This work is focused on hardware design of Soft Decision Decoders (SSD) that use channel output information as reliability measures to improve the coding gain with associated levels of complexity. The project is geared towards FPGA implementation of the reliability based SSD for Turbo codes to suit deep space applications.

  • The project titled “Predictive Modeling of Complex IT systems" is funded by DRDO. Mr. Prashant R. Nair, Dr. M. Sethumadhavan are the investigators. The duration of the project is 1 year.

  • Human-animal conflicts arise due to the diminishing natural resources and habitats as a result of the rise of encroachments, poaching, urbanization, and industrialization. As a result, the loss in yield due to animal attacks has been on a steady increase in the past few years. Even though agriculture is a vast sector, the average farmer would find it difficult to invest in technological solutions to prevent loss in yield, especially for security purposes.

  • This project aims to improve the state of art in effective retrieval of text and image data from large web corpora. As part of this project novel topic modeling approaches and change detection algorithms are being developed to improve the retrieval efficiency.

  • The project titled "Feasibility Study on Coastal Reservoir Concept to Impound Netravati River Flood Waters : A Sustainable Strategy for Water Resource Development" is funded by BWSSB, Govt of Karnataka.  Dr. Sreevalsa, Prof. Subbarao are the investigators of the project.

  • Mammography has been the most popular method for the early detection of the breast cancer. Due to low contrast of mammograms typical diagnostic signs such as masses and micro calcification are difficult to detect. So to create a high resolution mammogram super resolution (SR) technique can be used. This technique will make a high resolution image from a series of low resolution images of the same scene.

  • The project titled "Fulbright Specialist Scholar Program", is funded by USIEF. The investigator of the project is Dr. Ajith Ramesh.
