• Different types of polymer composites are used in launch vehicles and satellite systems. The polymer matrices include polyurethanes, silicones, epoxies, PEEK, phenolics, acrylonitrile – butadiene copolymer [NBR], polyisoprene [NR] etc. Fillers which provide reinforcement, or specific properties may be particulate [eg silica, carbon black, silicon carbide] or fibrous / fabric, continuous or discrete [eg fibre/fabric of carbon, silica fabric, Kevlar, glass etc].

  • Aerobic  treatment  of  waste water  requires  the  continuous  replenishment of  oxygen  economically  in  sufficient  quantities.  Efficient  aerators  are developed  towards  this  end.  Plunging  Hollow  Jet Aerators  consist  of  a cone,  which  deflects  the  water  at  the  end  of  a  discharging  pipe  through the annular opening, forming a hollow jet.

Until recently coconut plucking job conventionally was taken up by socially and economically backward people in these areas. Due to various government welfare programs and increase in literacy, the number of people taking up this job has dwindled a lot which is one of the main reasons resulting in increase in the price of coconuts.

  • KaraChara is used in the rehabilitation and therapy of patients with paralysis due to stroke or spinal cord injury. The design consists of dual control mechanisms for the efficient operation of a Hand Orthosis device, which includes Electrooculogram (EOG) based control and Graphical User Interface (GUI) based control. Physiotherapists can train the patients at initial stages and patients themselves can start using without the need for Physiotherapists later. A patent has been filed for the same and is expected by the end of this year.

  • The goal of this project is to create a hierarchical extendible data model for indoor information which can represent buildings, entities within it, utilities, objects inside the building, and sensors inside the building for object tracking and localization, so that the represented data is easily stored and queried using a spatio-temporal database. An indoor information system will be developed which can support indoor asset tracking and real-time navigation over this data model. This project is funded by DST, India.
