On the occasion of World Diabetes Day on November 14, 2014, the Departments of Endocrinology and Vitreoretinal Services of the Department of Ophthalmology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences are jointly organizing a month-long program with the theme “Diabetes and Eye” from November 3 - 24, 2014. The departments have envisaged a series of activities aimed at increasing awareness about the vision threatening complications of diabetes.
Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, under the aegis of Kerala Orthopaedic Association and Cochin Orthopaedic Society, conducted the Amrita Spine Course 2014 on November 2. Amrita Kalotsav 2014, the combined inauguration of the arts fest of all schools at the Health Sciences campus included the Amrita School of Medicine, Amrita School of Dentistry, Amrita College of Nursing, Amrita School of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences and was held on October 27, 2014.
The Department of Internal Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi will conduct a national level annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program on Recent Concepts on HIV on September 21, 2014. The CME is conducted in collaboration with AIDS Society of India. The academic feast covers basics, recent concepts in Management and HIV Vaccine.
The second International Fellowship on Health Technology Assessment in India' was held at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi from September 16–20, 2014. The main objective of the fellowship was to impart practical knowledge to the participants on how to report decision-making on healthcare technologies and health system interventions with multidisciplinary and evidence-based assessment approach.
The 11th convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was held on August 30, 2014 at the Headquarters at Coimbatore. 4833 graduating students from all five campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapetham,, viz. Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Kochi and Mysore were conferred degrees.
Most of the students and researchers are normally trained in quantitative data analysis methods. However, not many educational institutions have got teaching programmes in collecting qualitative data of research and analyzing them applying appropriate methods. Very few Seminars & Workshops are conducted on this aspect in our country.
The Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi organized an Anaesthesiology Refresher Course 2014 on August 10, 2014.
Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi celebrated its 10th anniversary of Liver Transplant Unit by conducting 325 liver transplants in the past ten years.
