Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Conducts Asia's First Upper-arm Double Hand Transplant

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, conducted India's and Asia's first upper arm double hand-transplant on Shreya Siddanagowda, a 19-year-old girl. Shreya, a chemical engineering student at Manipal Institute of Technology, lost both her hands in a road mishap last year.

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Treats Tribal Boy Suffering from Encephalocele

A 10-member team of surgeons at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences(AIMS) removed an Encephalocele from a 13 year old tribal boy Manikandan. The surgery lasted for 11 hours. The entire cost of the procedure was borne by Kerala Government agencies, as Manikandan’s parents, Selvan and Ramata, are from a poor socio-economic background.
