The TBI helps the student community by working with those among them that have the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas for new products and services.
The Amrita TBI has already incubated nearly a dozen companies. In addition to other support, it has helped find venture capital funding for these companies.
An initiative of the Department of Science and Technology, TBIs now exist on campuses of most IITs and NITs in the nation.
The Amrita TBI was started on Feb 21, 2008. Led by Kailash Thangaraju, its main thrust areas are Information and Communication Technology and Electronics Instrumentation.
Student entrepreneurs are supported by an evaluation of their ideas, through space and facilities for building prototypes, marketing support, help with preparation of brochures and patenting. ACE (Amrita Creative Entrepreneurs) is a student club promoted by TBI that helps with carrying out the mission of the Amrita TBI.
