Bindu K. R., Faculty Sponsor, Amrita ACM Student Chapter attended The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (India) at Bangalore on December 7-9, 2016. The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (India) is India's largest gathering of women technologists. It is produced by the Anita Borg Institute and presented in partnership with ACM India. She was an organizing committee member in Data Science and Machine learning track and conducted a hands on workshop in Predictive Modeling Using R and Python along with Maheshwari Dhandapani, Program Manager [Cisco Systems], Subramanian Lakshminarayanan Engineering, Manager [Zebra Technologies], Sowmya Venugopal, Technical Specialist [HCL Technologies], Lavanya Sita Tekumalla, Doctoral student [IISc] and Sharmistha Jat, Doctoral Student [IISc].
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with ACM Student Chapter, ASCII and CSI organized a two day Workshop on Python from October 4th and 6th, 2016. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore is organizing a Hackathon event for Women on 21st April 2016 (Thursday). The event is organized in association with ACM-W and GUVI. The program is an initiative to motivate women programmers. A two day workshop on web designing and Photoshop was conducted by the ACM student chapter and ASCII from September 9-10, 2015. More than eighty students participated. A brief introductory talk about the ACM and ASCII club was delivered by ACM student chapter Faculty coordinator Bindu K. R. and ACM student chapter chair AkhilSai. The workshop on Photoshop on the first day was explained with the very basic tools on how to get started. Effective use of tools such as lasso, select, patch and move were discussed. Read More
