Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, hosted The conference on Robotics and Automation for Humanitarian Applications (RAHA) 2016, the first-of-its-kind event on the branch of study, which brought together some of the brightest minds across the world. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Designs Solar Auto Rickshaw

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham developed a solar powered auto-rickshaw, fully driven by solar energy. It travels a distance of about 150 km at a cruising speed of 80 km/hr with 6 hours charging of the battery. The solar powered auto-rickshaw can run with a maximum speed of 80 km/hr. It was developed by the Mechanical Engineering students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham under the guidance of Dr. Ganesha Udupa, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri campus. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has so far developed two solar powered auto-rickshaws.
