‘Amrutham Arogyam’ to Deal with Lifestyle Diseases

In an attempt to control and prevent the occurrence and prevalence of lifestyle and non-communicable diseases among Kochiites, the city corporation in association with community medicine department of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) and various social welfare departments launched 'Amrutham Arogyam' scheme on December 4, 2017. Rakesh P. S., Assistant Professor at the department of Community Medicine, AIMS, said that Amrita Urban Health Centre, Kaloor, will provide free check-up, treatment and delivery to pregnant women referred by Kudumbashree and ICDS workers.

Amrita Faculty Member to Present at an Indo- Italian Joint Workshop, Delhi

Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh, Director & Professor at Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (AmritaWNA) and Dean of Amrita Center for International Programs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, will attend and address the Indo-Italian Joint Workshop on Multi- Hazard Mitigation of Risks to Cultural Heritage at Senate Hall, IIT Delhi, India, on December 5, 2017. 

Amrita Hospital Part of Hridyam Initiative

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences becomes a part of 'Hridyam Programme', an initiative to save those with Congenital Heart defect. The Department of Paediatric Cardiology at Amrita Hospital, headed by R. Krishna Kumar, is involved in a number of training programmes for paediatricians and obstetricians in the government sector in building capacity in managing newborns with CHDs. Besides the emergency surgeries, it is important to take care of the babies with CHD till the surgery is done for best results.
