Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Car Free Day Focuses on Cycle Rally and 10 Km Fun Run

Five years ago, a group of socially committed Amritians decided to conduct a cycle rally. This September 22nd, 2015 marked its 5th prolific edition. In the current juncture when the world is finding it difficult to cope with escalating air pollution, the event was really relevant. September 22nd is celebrated as “world car free day” and as a part of it, Amrita Sanjeevani, the seva organisation at Amritapuri Campus, conducted a cycle rally and 10 km fun run from Karunagapally to Amritapuri.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Amritapuri Campus observed World Car Free Day on September 22 by conducting a bicycle rally and and a 10 km Fun Run from Karunagappally to the campus involving many students and staff. The objective of the day was to promote the use of public transportation, car sharing and emission–free vehicles as an effort to address the crisis of environmental pollution.
