Students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Initiates a Project to Grow Organic Vegetables

Students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have initiated a noble project to help families in the nearby Clappana and Kulasekharam panchayats grow organic vegetables free of pesticides. Students and staff under the aegis of Amrita Yuva Dharma Dhara, the youth association of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, prepared a nursery of 1.5 lakh vegetable saplings in the past one month. With the help of local panchayat office-bearers, the volunteers distributed the saplings to all the families of the two panchayats.

The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has launched an ambitious project to help two grama panchayats, Clapana and Kulashekarapura in Kollam district deal with the challenge of toxicity in fruits and vegetables. Students and staff of the university with support from the Amrita Yuva Dharma Dhara, the youth wing of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, prepared a nursery of 1.5 lakh vegetable saplings for the purpose.

Vishukkaineettam Vrikshathaineettam Project Inaugurated

Sri. K. Babu, Honorable Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Excise, inaugurated the project 'Vishukkaineettam Vrikshathaineettam' by handing over a sapling to cine actress, Seema G. Nair on April 14, 2015 at Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi. “This project envisaged by AMMA is a novel venture and a fine model for environmental protection,” said Sri K. Babu.

"The project ‘Vishukkai Neettam, Vrikshathai Neettam’, envisaged by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is a novel venture and a fine model for environmental protection to the entire world,” said K. Babu, Excise Minister, Govenment of Kerala. He was speaking on the occasion of the state-level inauguration of the project on Amrita Healthsciences Campus.
