Amrita Hosts Youth Empowerment Workshop in Amritapuri

A half-day youth empowerment workshop was hosted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus. The workshop held at the Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Lawspet, was organized as a part of the University’s Youth Empowerment Program. S. Sundari Nanda, Director General of Police, launched the initiative.

Amrita Hospital, Kochi, received Kerala State Pollution Control Board’s Best Environmental Practice Award 2019 in the hospital sector for its sustained efforts to control pollution and environmental protection. Amrita Hospital has been conferred this award for the fifth consecutive year. 

Amrita Canteen Went Plastic-Free A Year Ago

Dr. S. Mahadevan, Deputy Dean, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, said, ''In our canteen, even before this initiative was announced by the state government, we decided to go plastic-free — almost a year ago, in fact. We are using only steel glasses, plates and spoons. Even during the recently held three-day international conference, we had zero plastic usage."
 

Amrita Campus Say No to Plastic

Following the directive from the state government to completely ban single-use plastics from January 2019, many colleges have already taken steps and some are in the process of finding ways to totally banish plastic from the campus, and also advising students to say no to plastic outside the college as well. Dr. S. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Top Ranking in MHRD- Swachhta Campus Ranking

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, emerged on top of the Swachhta Campus Rankings 2018 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, in the category of Technical Institutions/ Universities (Residential). The competition saw participation from more than 6000 institutes across the country. The ranking is based on the appreciable participation of the campuses of the country in taking environmental science lessons beyond the walls of classroom and apply to the day-to-day lives.
