Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Launched Various Projects at Chancellor's Birthday

The 64th birthday celebrations of the of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma, saw the launch of a number of charitable initiatives. The Centre for Research in Advanced Technologies for Education (CREATE), an educational technology initiative pioneered by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, had imparted basic computer training to tribal youths. The event saw the roll out of e-cylces for use in villages without electricity, fitted with dynamos and solar panels which can generate electricity for basic household needs. Amma also presented this year’s Amrita Keerti Puraskar to president of the Sree Vivekananda Vedic Vision M Lakshmi Kumari, and honoured 11 doctors of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, for carrying out Asia’s first upper arm double hand transplant in August.

Indian President Joins Amritavarsham 64

The Honourable President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the 64th birthday celebrations of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Chancellor, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma, and various charity programs and developmental projects of the Math and the University. He inaugurated the 'Jivamritam' filtration system. The Jivamritam Filtration System was conceptualized and designed by the faculty members and students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The Math intends to deploy all 5,000 Jivamritam Systems within one year, provided we receive timely permissions from local administrations. The President also distributed certificates to five individuals representing 1,940 patients who have availed free surgeries at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. He also presented open defecation-free certificates to leaders of three of 12 villages adopted under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
