Amrita Tops the List of Private Universities in India

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has topped the list of private universities in India prepared by UK based Times Higher Education. Mata Amritanandamayi, Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, received The World University Rankings award certificate from Duncan Ross, the Chief Data Officer of Times Higher Education in London. The rankings measure an institution’s performance across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

'The teachers have contributed a lot towards preparing India’s young generation to secure the future of the country,' said Shri. Deepak Vohra, Special Advisor to the Prime Ministers of India, Lesotho and Guinea-Bissau. He was addressing ‘You are the Light’ event held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai campus, to honour the CBSE teachers who won National Best Teacher Award for the year 2018 - 2019 for CBSE and State Board.

Amrita in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020

In the 2020 edition of the annual rankings released, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has been placed in the list of 601-800 category. The rankings are partly based on publication, citation data and key performance indicators relating to research, teaching, knowledge transfer and international activity. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is the only Private Indian University according to Times Higher Education BRICS University Rankings.

Amrita’s 6th Campus Inaugurated at Chennai

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham opened its 6th campus at Chennai on July 29, 2019.  As of now, the new campus hosts a School of Engineering offering undergraduate engineering (B.Tech.) programs in Computer Science, Civil, Electronics & Communications, Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical.
