Amrita Handed out Free Tree Saplings under Reforestation Project to Sabarimala Pilgrims

‘Poonkavana Vandanam,’ a nature conservation and reforestation scheme jointly launched by the Kerala Forests and Wildlife Department and the Mata Amritanandamayi Math Green Friends, at Pampa on the foothills of Sabarimala has become popular as a ‘Care Mother Nature’ project.Under the project, saplings of trees, both timber and non-timber species, including sandalwood, rosewood, teak wood and fruit trees are distributed free to pilgrims returning from Sabarimala.

Amrita to Celebrate World Environment Day with Year Long Activities

Amrita Green Friends will dedicate June 5th, 2009 through June 5th, 2010 as a Green Year as per the advise of their chancellor, Mata Amritanandamayi. The effort of the team will be to inspire all to do the maximum possible for restoring the lost harmony of Nature. A recycling and bio compost unit will be soon implemented near the ashram, informed the Co-ordinator.
