Amrita’s Low-cost UV Sanitization Robot ‘Prabha’ Hits the Market

Prabha, is a remote-controlled sanitization robot that can systematically disinfect rooms with ultraviolet rays Amrita’s Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs collaborated with Megara Robotics, a private enterprise in Chennai, to develop Prabha, and the team completed its first successful prototype in June of last year. In September, Prabha was deployed at Amrita Hospital in Kochi in the throes of COVID-19 treatment.

Amrita Professor Talks About the Need to Create More Effective Industry-Institution Ties

Prashant R. Nair, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, spoke about the need to create more effective industry-institution ties and to convert more final year engineering projects into startups.

“We are circulating information on STIP-2020 (Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2020) among various circles and policy experts for inputs and feedback. The policy would impact both technical education and startup ecosystem. So we are trying to make it inclusive and tech-driven,” Prashant said, who is the Institute’s Campus Ambassador for STIP-2020.
