Amrita Doctors in Organising Committee of ‘Spine 2019’ National Medical Conference

The Neuro Spinal Surgeons Association of India (NSSA) in association with the Cochin Spine Society will organize an International Conference on Spine Surgery ‘Spine 2019’ from August 30 to September 1, 2019. Dr. Sajesh K. Menon, Organising Chairman and Professor and HoD of Neurosurgery, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, said that highly advanced technologies, implants and advanced surgical techniques like minimally invasive or keyhole spine surgery have enabled safe conduct of complex spinal procedures. As prelude to the conference, a cadaveric workshop will be held on August 29 at AIMS.

Amrita Doctors Reconstruct Breast Bone of Infant Using 3D Printing

A team of doctors from the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, has carried out a rare surgical procedure using 3D printing technology to give a new lease of life to an infant who was born without a sternum or breast bone – a rare condition known as complete cleft sternum. The doctors made use of 3D model to perform the complex surgery several times and then used titanium to print the implant that was fixed in place in the body of the infant during the surgery.

Amrita Hospital Stocks Liquid Oxygen Diesel, Food and Water

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, have stocked up liquid oxygen and and also diesel to run generators in case there is a power distruption. "We have stocked up diesel, water, food and liquid oxygen so that patients are not to put to inconvenience,” said Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Medical Superintendent, AIMS, Kochi.
