Increasing population a challenge – G. Madhavan Nair at AIMS Graduation Ceremony

Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the graduation ceremony of the Amrita School of Medicine here, Mr Nair said healthcare for the rural populace had become a nightmare with no facilities, forcing rural people to travel long distance for medical care. Though 70 per cent of the country's population live in the rural areas, only two per cent of the doctors go to the villages for medical practice, he added.
