Amrita Self Driving Wheelchair Article in US Magazine 'BioPhotonics'

An article on Amrita Self Driving Wheelchair is published in the September 2018 issue of 'BioPhotonics' magazine by PhotonicsMedia. Researchers at the Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Kerala, India, have developed the self-driving wheelchair with Android-based VIVO smartphones and RoboPeak Lidar (RPLIDAR), a 360°, 2D laser scanner development kit. Led by professor Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, director of HuT, three engineering students — Raviteja Chinta, Akhil Raj, and Sarath Sreekanth — assisted with the project.

Collaborations between industry and institutions have resulted in projects ranging from storage systems to smart pumps. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has around 50 active MoU's. Rajiv Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Amritapuri campus, presented the paper titled, "CSR Disclosure and Financial Transparency: Evidence from India", in collaboration with Deakin University and RMIT University, at the tier 1 conference, 9th Financial Markets and Corporate Governance (FMCG) 2018, held at The La Trobe Business School in Melbourne, Australia, from April 5-7, 2018.

Dr. Binulal Nelson Sathy, an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine(ACNSMM), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has been awarded the prestigious Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, for the year 2016-2017.
