Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Observes International De-worming Day in Local Schools
On January 17th, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences observed International De-worming Day by organizing health initiatives in local schools. The government-supplied albendazole tablets were distributed to students, ensuring that all children received the medication as instructed. This initiative aimed to improve the health of children in the community by addressing the common issue of worm infestations, which can significantly affect their well-being and academic performance.
To raise awareness about the importance of deworming, informative sessions were conducted at L.P. School Elamkunnapuzha and Government U.P. School Edavanakkad. Dr. Haseena, a postgraduate from the Community Medicine Department at AIMS, led these sessions, supported by staff members Anusha (Health Instructor) and Prameela (Junior Public Health Nurse). The sessions were held at 11 am and 2 pm, respectively, and focused on educating students, teachers, headmasters, and non-teaching staff about the deworming process and its benefits.
The participation from both schools was enthusiastic, reflecting the community’s commitment to improving children’s health. Through these educational efforts, AIMS successfully disseminated critical information about deworming and its role in preventing health issues, fostering a healthier environment for the students in the local area. This initiative not only aimed to treat existing conditions but also empowered the community with knowledge to promote ongoing health and well-being among children.
