Event Details

The eighth annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held from 3 to 4 May 2023. The Forum will be convened by the President of ECOSOC Her Excellency Lachezara Stoeva who has appointed two co-chairs – H.E. Ms. Mathu Joyini, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Thomas Woodroffe, United Kingdom Ambassador to the UN Economic and Social Council. As per its mandate, the Forum will be organized by the UN interagency task team on STI for the SDGs (IATT), convened by UN-DESA and UNCTAD, and the 10-Member Group of high-level representatives appointed by the Secretary General.

In line with recent mandates and as in previous years, the STI Forum will facilitate discussions on science, technology and innovation cooperation in support of the SDGs. The Forum will be organized by the UN interagency task team on STI for the SDGs (IATT), convened by UN-DESA and UNCTAD, and the 10-Member Group of high-level representatives appointed by the Secretary General. Accordingly, the theme for the STI Forum 2023 is: "Science, technology and innovation for accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels".

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India together with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India is organising a virtual side event on Community Resilience Resource Centers (CRRCs) for aiding post covid socio-economic recovery in India on 4th May 2023 (8:30 – 9:45 am, Eastern Time, United States) (6.00 pm - 7.15 pm India time)

This virtual side event is being organised to showcase India’s thought leadership in setting up CRRCs for building Science Technology and Innovation (STI) capacities and capabilities of the communities for improved resilience and livelihood systems. The community resilience being built through CRRCs will support India’s efforts to build back better in the context of Post-Covid socio-economic recovery.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) and Wildlife Institute of India are partnering for the implementation of the CRRC programme of DST, and are proud knowledge partners for this key global event organized by DST and UNDP.
